Bruce Lee Club Activities Overview — 2001-2005


Since its establishment in 1995, the Bruce Lee Club has organized numerous activities. Below is a summary of some of the more representative events from 2001 to 2005:

- Organized the Bruce Lee Member Club.

2002
- **November**: Held a member dinner to celebrate Bruce Lee's 62nd birthday.

2003
- July: Hosted the exhibition "The Dragon Soars — Commemorating the 30th Anniversary of Bruce Lee's Passing" at the Hong Kong Arts Centre.
  
- July: Assisted TVB in organizing the special program "The Legendary Martial Artist Bruce Lee."

- November: Held a member dinner to celebrate Bruce Lee's 63rd birthday.

2004
- July: In collaboration with Hong Thai Travel Services, organized the "Dragon Quest: Commemorating the 31st Anniversary of Bruce Lee's Passing," leading members from Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, and Hong Kong to visit Bruce Lee's former residence in Jun'an Town, Foshan, Guangdong Province, the Bruce Lee Memorial Hall in Shunde, and the memorial hall of Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man.

- July and August: Conducted "Martial Arts Journeys," leading members to visit "The Great Sage Pakua Gate" and "Wong Kin-leung Practical Wing Chun Kung Fu School."

- November: In collaboration with Madame Tussauds at The Peak, held the "Bruce Lee Family Photo Exhibition" and launched a new book titled "Lee Sui Loong: Memories of the Dragon," featuring a book signing event with the author.

- November: Assisted the Foshan Municipal Government in hosting the "2004 Foshan Martial Arts Culture Festival."

- November: Organized two special lectures at the Hong Kong Film Archive, titled "Bruce Lee — From Child Star to Superstar" and "The Ugly King Li Hoi-chuen and the Child Star Bruce Lee," featuring guest speakers Mr. Li Zhenhui and Ms. Li Qiu-yuan, both honorary members of the club.

2005
- March 27: Invited to speak alongside Mr. Stephen Chow at the Hong Kong Film Awards ceremony, officially announcing that the Bruce Lee statue being planned by the club would be erected on the Avenue of Stars on November 27. This was also an opportunity to thank generous sponsors Mr. Lee Shau-kee and Mr. Liu Luanxiong.

- The club president and main executives appeared at the Hong Kong Film Awards, alongside guests including Mr. Stephen Chow, Mr. Tsui Hark, and Ms. Li Xiangning, who represented her father in receiving the "Century Star" honor.

- July: Held a promotional ceremony for the "Bruce Lee Statue Design Public Voting Activity" at Royal Plaza in Causeway Bay.

- July: Proposed to the Hong Kong Tourism Board to hold a week-long "Hong Kong Bruce Lee Festival 2005" in late November. The proposal was accepted, and the club actively participated in the preparation of related programs.

- November 25: Officially launched the "Bruce Lee Festival," organized by the club and co-organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, lasting seven days. The activities for the "Hong Kong Bruce Lee Festival 2005" were diverse, including the statue unveiling ceremony, a "Bruce Lee Grand Party," "Dragon Quest," and a week-long free screening of Bruce Lee films on the large TV screen at the Avenue of Stars.

- November 27: A 2-meter tall, over 3-ton Bruce Lee statue was erected on the Avenue of Stars. The unveiling ceremony and "Bruce Lee Grand Party" attracted over a thousand participants, including local citizens and tourists from around the world. This event became the largest since the establishment of the Avenue of Stars. The unveiling ceremony garnered significant media attention worldwide, with television broadcasts from the USA, Canada, the UK, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, China, and Hong Kong. The following day, all major newspapers in Hong Kong reported extensively on the event.
